It's extremely important to broaden your thinking and expand your knowledge. It's impossible to do that without reading different kinds of things. Nonfiction, business, blogs, news, and (YES!!!) fiction.

Oh, I agree 100%.

Thank yous always go down well, especially if they're sincere.

Last year I bought some pens and ink from Goulet Pens and not only was the package so well-wrapped it was a challenge to unpack it, but there was hand-written note along with it, thanking me for the purchase and hoping that I'd enjoy the pens and ink. (And it was written in an ink colour I don't own, which of course, made me put it on my "I want list")

Hi Shashi-Yes, I like Total Wine's pricing too, and know they advertise regularly. I found today's placement questionable though, and I thought it was poor judgement on the WaPo's part.
Thanks for your input!

Hi Deb,

While I agree on the possibilities that exist, I must say I read the Washington Post every day including today. I actually did not make the connection.
I have been regularly looking at the Total Wine ads, I love going there and being a cheapskate I am always looking for their coupons :) and today was no different. Again we should always be conscious of this and I am glad you are asking the question.

Yes, a company's policies really affect how customers perceive it. Negative perceptions are hard to get rid of. Apparently, Radio Shack has a long road ahead in terms of customer satisfaction!

Funny you should mention Radio Shack... I actually stopped buying from them years ago for exactly the same reason. I don't think I've bought anything bigger than a battery from a Radio Shack store since.

Why don't companies understand that facilitating returns actually makes me more inclined to shop with you?

Generating goodwill is part of the "doing business with people you like" thing. It matters. And when you lose it, you lose customers.
